Our Board

Bayfield has established an Advisory Board to provide informed guidance to the Bayfield Executive team and serve as an ally in the quest for corporate governance. The Board is comprised of four experienced and sophisticated professionals, who are also investors. The Advisory Board reviews and makes recommendations with respect to acquisitions, dispositions, financial reporting, property budgets and communications to investors.


Eugene Bortoluzzi, MBA, B.Com.

Mr. Bortoluzzi has had a 25-year career in finance, management and new business start-ups. He has held a past position as Director, Finance and Sales Support with Manulife Investments. Mr. Bortoluzzi was previously the Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Secretary and one of the originating founders of SynX Pharma Inc., a TSX listed research and development biotechnology company. Prior to SynX Mr. Bortoluzzi was Secretary, Treasurer and Controller of Spectra Diagnostics Inc., a TSX listed company.

Mr. Bortoluzzi has extensive experience in U.S. and Canadian public company regulatory affairs, financial control, public exchange filings and auditing. Mr. Bortoluzzi has been involved in the creation and financing of five public companies over the last fifteen years.


Maxwell Gotlieb, LL. B., LL. M.

Mr. Gotlieb is a senior partner of Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP, a Toronto-based major Canadian law firm. Mr. Gotlieb has significant experience and currently/previously has sat on the boards of numerous corporations with international and Canadian real estate operations including hands-on involvement with his family-owned real estate investment operations particularly in the multi-residential sector.

Mr. Gotlieb also has a diversified academic background, having been an adjunct professor of law at Osgoode Hall Law School for in excess of 10 years, instructing at the Admission Course of the Law Society of Upper Canada and teaching at Ryerson University. Mr. Gotlieb is a well-known speaker and prolific writer and has chaired numerous panels for professional and industry bodies. Mr. Gotlieb is actively involved in many charitable organizations throughout the Toronto area, including currently/previously sitting on the boards/being an officer of Mount Sinai Hospital Foundation, Baycrest Hospital Foundation, York University Foundation among others, and chairing/co-chairing nomination and governance committees of many.

A graduate of York University and Osgoode Hall Law School (both LLB and LLM degrees), Mr. Gotlieb was called to the bar in 1977. He resides in Toronto with his wife and 3 children.


Gary M. Samuel, JD

Mr. Samuel is currently president of Perek Bet Inc., a private real estate investment and management company. Mr. Samuel is a co-founder and recently retired partner of Crown Realty Partners, a Canadian institutional real estate investment and management corporation. Mr. Samuel was co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Royop Properties Corporation, a Canadian real estate development company formerly listed on the TSX. He also founded and was the former Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Real Estate Investment Trust, a REIT listed on the TSX. Mr. Samuel currently serves as lead trustee of FAM REIT, a TSX-listed REIT. Mr. Samuel is the former Chairman of HOMEQ Corporation and Homequity Bank, a Canadian chartered bank formerly a TSX-listed company. He is also a former director of First Capital Realty Corp. and lead director of Gazit America Inc., both TSX-listed real estate companies and formerly a member of the Board of Directors of Bialik Hebrew Day School.

Mr. Samuel holds a JD degree from Osgoode Hall Law School, Toronto.


Don Fitzpatrick, B.A.

Don Fitzpatrick was most recently President of PricewaterhouseCoopers Real Estate Inc. Don has been involved in the real estate industry since 1981 and has held a number of senior level positions, including National Real Estate Leader of Deloitte & Touche LLP and Executive Vice President and Regional Manager of CB Richard Ellis.

Don has worked on a number of Canada' most significant investment and leasing transactions, and he provides strategic real estate advice to many of Canada's largest corporations, public sector entities and many private clients.


Marvin C. Gord, Phm.B, BA, LL.B.

Mr. Gord was founder/partner of the Plaza Drug Store chain (now known as Shoppers Drug Mart); National Marketing Director for Sears (Canada) Ltd.; Vice-President Peoples Jewellers Ltd.; President Newman & Gord Insurance Consultants; President of Marketing Division Eastern Canadian Natural Gas; Special Legal Consultant on Legislative Affairs to Sears (Canada) Ltd; Partner in a law firm of Michela & Gord. Professor, Faculty of Business, Centennial College of Applied Arts & Technology (courses: Finance & Investment Analysis, Canadian Business Law Organizational Behavior; Current Issues in Business).
